A PARENT'S PERSPECTIVE - Susan Youshock Pruyn

Susan Youshock Pruyn

I AM THE PARENT of three children, a daughter and twin boys, all born within 16 months of one another.  Over a decade ago, the boys were diagnosed with autism.  At that time, I couldn't imagine the journey that was ahead of me.  I have progressed from the initial victim feeling of "how did this become my life" to trying to fix them, to surrendering and unplugging from all of society's expectations of me and them, finally shifting my perspective to see their awesomism rather than autism.  This is when miracles started to happen in my life.  Working with Suzy Miller these past few years has certainly opened me up to seeing the boy's awesomism, as well as my own.  I have an amazing relationship with my children today as I see them beyond the picture presented to me - as I am open to all levels of communication.  You can read more about my full story here, as well as my website, and also about my day-to-day life as I continue to post new experiences on my blog.

I find that my combination of living the autism to awesomism experience and my expanded knowing now offer a unique insight to others on this same journey. It is my belief that as we join together on this journey, we create a space to allow both our children and ourselves to expand into a JOYFUL life experience!
